PHP 5.0 cluster issue

We have experiencied a problem with our PHP 5.0 cluster (not the PHP 5.2 cluster) which may have affected customers’ ability to access websites.  This was related to a server which was brought online approximately 16:00 this afternoon and was resolved at just after 18:00.  We apologise for the inconvenience this will have caused customers on this cluster.

Backend database issue

We are currently experiencing an issue with our back-end database server which we are working to resolve very shortly.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused.  This may result in call setups failing, however, active calls will not be dropped.

Update 12:35
We have restored database connectivity.  This issue was caused by a DNS issue internally which is currently being investigated in more details to ensure that more redundancy is added to ensure this does not happen again.

We are still seeing issues with whitelabel VoIP partners’ control panels which we are investigating currently.

Update 13:45
Our partner login areas are now working normally again, this issue is related to our database, which due to being unavailable had a backlog of work, which has now cleared.  We apologise for the inconvenience this will have caused you.

Ochre shell access unavailavble

09:45

We are currently aware of a problem with our FreeBSD shell server ‘Ochre’ which also handles customer FTP. FTP is currently working correctly, however ssh access is not. We are currently awaiting assistance from on-site datacentre engineers in connecting to the server and will update customers via GradwellStatus once more information is available.

10:10 update

Shell access to Ochre has been restored from 10:03, no other services appear to have been affected or existing sessions interrupted.

Control Panel Issue

We are currently seeing an issue with our Voip and Hosting Control panels being unavailable and timing out.

We are investigating the issue and will update gradwellstatus.com when we have further information.

Control panel slow down

15:30

We are currently experiencing a problem with our control panels which may make them slow or difficult to use. Our server team are aware of this and our highest priority of internal issue has been raised. We hope to resolve this very shortly. Please note that this will not affect customer hosted sites.

FTP issue

We have experiencied a brief interruption of service to our FTP and FreeBSD 5 customer shell server - Ochre which is now fully functioning again.

PHP 5.2 Cluster: “you do not have permission to access /” errors

This evening we’ve had reports of customers occasionally seeing errors like “You do not have permission to access /” when attempting to access websites on the PHP 5.2 cluster.  Other symptoms would be missing CSS and missing images from customer websites.

This issue has been traced to a specific PHP 5.2 web server which was not updating its configuration files automatically.  We have fixed this fault, and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

If your website is still seeing issues, please contact our customer services team who will be very happy to investigate further.

Hosting Maintenance Window

Starts: 2008/08/12 22:00 Ends: 2008/08/12 23:59

Late on Tuesday evening, we will be carrying out some essential maintenance to our hosting service.

  • New version of the Hosting Control Panel, adding the following features:
    • PHP 5.2 trial cluster support
    • Display which file server mailboxes are stored on
  • DNS Server configuration update, to disable zone transfers for customers who want this disabled
During this maintenance window, the Hosting Control Panel may be unavailable.  No other services should be affected.

PHP5 hosting issue

We are aware of a problem on our PHP 5 hosting cluster which may be causing some sites to appear blank or with a holding page at present. We are aware of the cause of the issue and our server team are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience causer. Customers on our PHP 4 hosting cluster, which is the default, are not affected.

Please note, at time of writing, this problem has been resolved.

Planned Network Maintenance

Starts: 2008/08/03 22:00 Ends: 2008/08/04 01:00

As part of our ongoing network upgrades, we are planning to migrate a number of our Disk Storage arrays and VMWare servers onto our new ethernet network in Telehouse.

There will be a few brief interuptions (sub 1 min) to VoIP and Email services whilst cables are moved.

In the event of any unforseen problems, there is the potential that we may experience longer down time, particularly with respect to our disk storage arrays. However, we have already done some migrations onto the new network and are confident we are aware and have managed the potential risks.
