Completed VoIP Maintenance

COMPLETED: v-shell-1 maintenance window

We will be performing some essential maintenance on the customer shell server (shell.gradwell.net) tomorrow evening at approximately 22:00.  This maintenance should last less 15-30 minutes and is necessary to ensure that our FTP service can be migrated to the shell.  Please note, this will not affect the FTP hostname which should be used for transferring files; ftp.gradwell.net

COMPLETED: th-c6-4 emergency maintenance

We are currently performing emergency maintenance on server host th-c6-4, due to a networking issue which we are unable to otherwise resolve.  Various services will be affected including email and VoIP and we are working to keep this emergency maintenance window to an absolute minimum.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Update: All services have now been restored and we apologise for the length of time taken to restore service.

COMPLETED: lon-pbx-1 maintenance

We will be performing maintenance on work on lon-pbx-1 this evening from 23:00 and migrating data on to a new hard drive.  There will be a brief outage whilst the data is migrated.  We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Update: This maintenance was completed on time.  There was a brief failure this morning which led to a backup PBX coming into operation, which was resolved by 09:10.

COMPLETED: NewSIP maintenance

Starts: 2009/03/31 22:00 Ends: 2009/03/31 22:30

On the evening of Tuesday 31st we will be removing an inactive IP address from our NewSIP cluster.  Previously the cluster had two customer facing IP addresses, however following some improvements to our clustering system we have changed our DNS to use only a single IP address.  Therefore we are now in a position to remove the unused IP address for simplicity and ease of maintenance.

We do not expect this to cause any serious impact however as we restart our load balancing code there may be a few moments of interruption to service.  If you experience problems after this maintenance please try rebooting your VoIP phone, as a very small number of devices do not correctly pick up DNS changes.

Please accept our apologies for any problems this work may cause.

RESOLVED: NewSIP maintenance

Starts: 2009/03/30 22:00 Ends: 2009/03/30 23:00

Tonight we need to apply some software patches to our NewSIP registration servers.  Due to the clustered nature of the service this should not have a serious impact, however there may be brief interruptions to service while we swap the active servers in order to apply the patches to the inactive servers.

Please accept our apologies for any problems this maintenance may cause.

COMPLETED: NewSIP and NAT Proxy maintenance

Starts: 2009/01/15 22:00  Ends: 2009/01/15 23:00

Tonight we are adding some additional capacity to our NewSIP cluster, which we do not expect to cause any major problems - some users may experience some intermittent problems making and receiving calls for a brief period, although no active calls should be dropped.

Additionally we are in the process of decommissioning 2 of our old NAT proxy servers and migrating the service onto our new NAT proxy cluster.  This work is likely to result in a few minutes of outage for any extensions registered on the lon-ppc-1 and lon-ppc-2 servers, however this appears to be a very small number of customers.

Please accept our apologies for the short notice of this maintenance.

Update (22:51): The scheduled work has been completed and we are not aware of any outstanding problems.  Please contact support if you are experiencing any NAT or NewSIP related problems.

COMPLETED: NewSIP maintenance

Starts: 2008/10/08 00:00  Ends: 2008/10/08 00:20

At midnight tonight we will be doing some system configuration changes on the servers in the NewSIP cluster.  This work will affect all calls and registrations for customers using the NewSIP service (newsip.gradwell.net) on their VoIP phones.

The work is intended to fix a problem with intermittent de-registrations caused by a clock synchronization issue.  The servers will require a reboot so there is likely to be some service disruption although we will attempt to minimize disruption through the clustered nature of the NewSIP service.

Update (00:35): This maintenance ran past the scheduled window due to one of the servers taking longer than expected to reboot after the change was applied.  Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.
